This lovely recording conjures up May morning in Oxford, when as a child in the 50s, my mother would waken me before it was light for a three mile walk into the city. There we would listen to the choristers heralding in the advent of May from the top of Magdalen college tower. As I walked along hand in hand with mum the birds' dawn chorus would encourage us along our way as they too welcomed the arrival of the morning, spring and May. Simply magical, and as I listen to this recording today, 4000 miles away from home in the United Kingdom, it sounds even more beautiful than ever.
