    Large Lion Plush

This lion is a glamorous fellow, with a silky mane, soft honey fur and a milk-white muzzle. Loveably lazy, this royal rascal has a long tassel tail and soft, squishy haunches. He's ready to pounce, but he might just snooze instead!

English medieval warrior rulers with a reputation for bravery attracted the nickname "the Lion": the most famous example is Richard I of England, known as Richard the Lionheart. It was Richard who introduced the three lions to the heraldry of English kings and queens, turning the animal into a national symbol.

When Mary, Queen of Scots' son succeeded Elizabeth I as James I of England in 1603, in a display of unity between the two countries, he used the national animals of both Scotland and England, the unicorn and the lion on the Royal Scottish coat of arms.
