Imagine a time before GPS, Michelin, and Rand McNally, when the world was a great unknown. What lay beyond the castle walls? Beyond the horizon? Kings, merchants, and mariners needed to know. Enter the cartographers, who turned reports from returning explorers into useful maps for those who would follow. In the great Age of Discovery, from the fifteenth to the seventeenth century, these artisans helped Europeans span the globe and connect civilizations. Included in this calendar are a dozen antique map reproductions from the British Library’s vast and complex collection of cartographic material.
All of Pomegranate’s calendars are printed with soy-based inks on FSC® certified paper, which means the paper has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council® and manufactured by an FSC certified printer.
