    British Library Celestial Diary 2020

The British Library Desk Diary 2020 is in a week-to-view style with a red ribbon marker. It showcases a range of images taken from the Atlas Coelestis of Andreas Cellarius, part of the Library's collection.

The Atlas Coelestis was an eclectic group of astronomical charts and diagrams, displaying many different and often contradictory views of the heavens. It was partly a historical reference work, explaining the planetary theories of Ptolemy, Copernicus and Tycho. Its elaborately designed celestial maps were essentially artistic variations on a theme.
