You can subscribe here

How much does it cost? 

£12.50 per month, including UK postage. You’ll receive the newest title as soon as it is published.

Alternatively, you can choose a 6-month pre-paid subscription for £66 (equivalent to £11 per month).

For customers outside the UK, an additional postage fee of £7.50 per month applies. For a 6-month subscription, this totals £45, charged at checkout.

How does payment work? 

For monthly subscriptions:

  • Your first payment is taken at the time of order
  • You will then receive that month’s title
  • Future payments are taken around the 6th of each month, before dispatch

Dispatch is typically around the 8th of each month.

If you subscribe between the 5th and end of the month:

  • You will receive that month’s title
  • Your next payment will be taken around the 6th of the following month

If you subscribe between the 1st and 6th of the month:

  • Your order will be dispatched around the 10th
  • You will be charged again around the 6th of the following month

You can pause, cancel or update your delivery at any time.

For 6-month subscriptions:

  • Full payment is taken at the time of purchase
  • This is a one-off payment and does not auto-renew

When will I receive my book? 

Your book will be dispatched on or around the 8th of each month, please find delivery timescales  here. 

Can I pick the titles? 

No, you will always receive the most recently published British Library Crime Classic to avoid duplicates.

Can I cancel? 

Yes.

You can pause or cancel at any time via your subscription portal or by contacting shop@bl.uk.

To avoid your next order being processed, please make changes by the 4th of the month.

For 6-month subscriptions, refunds are only provided for any remaining months (at £11 per month, plus postage if applicable).

Can I return the book? 

Yes, please see our returns policy here.

If your book arrives damaged or faulty, contact shop@bl.uk and we will arrange a replacement or refund.

Can I buy it as a gift? 

Yes, simply enter the recipient’s delivery address at checkout.

Can I delay the start date? 

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to delay the start of the subscription.  

Can I pause my subscription? 

Yes. You can pause your monthly subscription at any time via your subscription portal or by contacting shop@bl.uk.

What happens if I change my address? 

You can update your delivery address at any time via your subscription portal or by contacting shop@bl.uk. 

What if there are delays or changes to titles?

Occasionally there may be delays or changes due to printing or delivery issues.

We will notify you in advance. If a delay exceeds one week, we will send an alternative title.

How can I find out about upcoming titles? 

Upcoming titles are listed on the product page. While we aim to deliver these as advertised, changes may occasionally occur. We will notify you in advance if this happens.

Can I use discounts on subscriptions?

Discounts (including staff, member or promotional offers) cannot be applied to subscriptions. We may occasionally offer specific subscription promotions.

What happens when my subscription runs out? 

6-month subscriptions do not renew automatically.

If you would like to continue, please purchase a new subscription after your final month to avoid receiving duplicate titles.
