This illustration shows a page from Lewis Carroll's original manuscript of Alice's Adventures under Ground (later published as Alice's Adventures in Wonderland), featuring the Queen of Hearts. In this section of the story Alice argues with the Queen of Hearts. Lewis Carroll is the pseudonym of Charles Dodgson. He created this manuscript between 1862-1864 for Alice Liddell, the daughter of the Dean of his college, Christ Church, in Oxford.
