A colourful image of Christ in Glory from the Ethiopic Bible, which include the first 8 books of the Old Testament (Octateuch), Four Gospels along with Synodicon, canons of church councils. The artist has taken elements from the Book of Revelations, in which the enthroned, glorified Christ is held up by four beasts, and the vision of the Old Testament prophet Ezekiel, in which he sees four living creatures and the glory of the Lord. The first chapter of the Book of Ezekiel describes these creatures: "And this was their appearance; each had the face of a man in front; the four had the face of a lion on the right side, the four had the face of an ox on the left side, and the four had the face of an eagle at the back". This manuscript was originally produced in Gondar, Ethiopia, late 17th century. Or. 481, f.110v
