About the programme
Our ambassadors receive a free 3-month Tales of the Weird or Crime Classics subscription, sales commission* and sneak peeks of British Library Publishing news.
*Sales commission is 10% of your first affiliate sale, and 3% thereafter.

Simply email ambassadors@bl.uk with the following:
- A short blurb about why you want to be an ambassador
- Define which subscription you want – Crime Classics or Tales of the Weird
- A link to your TikTok and Instagram
- A brief description of which content you’d like to recreate from our Content Guide
We review applications once every 3-months and successful applicants will be emailed confirmation and featured on our Instagrams (@BL_publishing and @britishlibraryshop).
We will use your personal data to process your application, and where you are successful, your participation in the Ambassador Programme. We will only use your personal data for this purpose. As long as you have one of the following you will be considered:
- A deep love for books
- A great following/engagement/reach on Instagram or TikTok
- A huge passion for mysterious crime and murder stories or weird spooky horror stories
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to choose everyone to be an ambassador, so if you’re unsuccessful this time, please do apply again!

Terms and conditions
In emailing and applying to ambassadors@bl.uk, you are agreeing to the T&Cs outlined below and those that may be communicated to you and/or updated from time to time in the British Library’s sole discretion:
All applicants must be 18 years or older and located in the United Kingdom.
Content created on behalf of the Ambassador Programme may be reshared gratis at the British Library’s sole discretion across British Library Publishing and Retail channels, (including but not limited to website and social platforms e.g. Facebook, Instagram and TikTok) as well as those the Library may have access to as a result of its collaborations and partnerships, although the British Library is and remains under no obligation to share Ambassador content at any time.
In addition to this, content may be reshared at the British Library’s sole discretion to promote the Library’s business and services in any and all media including but not limited to both internal and publicly available: sponsorship and development collateral, marketing outputs, websites, social media channels and annual/impact reports,
A list of successful applicants as well as their posts may also be posted by the British Library on @britishlibraryshop and/or @bl_publishing Instagram and TikTok posts, either in an account shout out, content reuse, content reshare, or collaborative post
Ambassadors will be provided with, and expected to adhere to, the Library’s Ambassador Content Guide, featuring recommended best practices for content featuring British Library Published books.
Ambassadors will not use any British Library logos or other copyrighted or proprietory imagery and/or trademarks whether registered or unregistered, without the written consent of the British Library
Ambassadors are required to have performance metrics live on social posts (i.e. likes, comments, shares, reposts, views) or, alternatively, to supply such metrics to ambassadors@bl.uk no more than 7 days following a live post.
Successful ambassadors will receive a 3-month subscription to Crime Classics or Tales of the Weird as well as a personalised discount code
Ambassadors are permitted to host affiliate links on social channel bios, limited to Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. In addition, affiliate links are permitted to be shared by ambassadors in social media posts featuring content they’ve made for the British Library, and only on the following channels: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or Facebook
Ambassadors are welcome and encouraged to interact with posts created by the main British Library, British Library Shop or British Library Publishing channels, including, but not limited to: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or Facebook. However, Ambassador affiliate links must not be shared via the comments section on any collateral initially created by the British Library.
Affiliate links may not be shared by Ambassadors on coupon websites including but not limited to Honey (joinhoney.com) or similar sites at any time
Commission will only be granted for sales made using the affiliate code that we’ve supplied.
In no circumstances will commission be granted retrospectively for sales made not using the Ambassador’s personal affiliate link
Ambassador email data will be kept for 6 months. After this time, it will be deleted.
Members of the public can apply to be an Ambassador at any time, but we will only select new Ambassadors every quarter (3 months)
Successful applicants will be emailed from ambassadors@bl.uk to confirm that their application has been successful. Queries or correspondence from Ambassadors must be sent to us at this email address in order to ensure the quickest answer to any query
The British Library reserves the right to remove any participant from its Ambassador Programme at any time and in the its sole discretion
An Ambassador can request to be removed from the program by emailing ambassadors@bl.uk
Ambassadors may be subject to immediate removal from the Programme if they:
Fail to comply with the Terms and Conditions as set out herein and as may be updated by the Library from time to time and in its sole discretion.
Post anything deemed by the Library to be harmful, inappropriate, damaging to the British Library brand and/or any of the British Library’s partner(s), or in any other way be likely to cause harm to the British Library and/or bring the British Library into disrepute.
