This woodblock-printed illustration of a crane flying across a sun is from Kaigai Tennen's Tennen hyakkaku ('Tennen's One Hundred Cranes'), published in 1900.
Kaigai Tennen was a Japanese artist who explored symbols of longevity and good fortune in his work. Cranes, symbolising 1000 years of life in Japanese folklore, are depicted alongside other symbols of good fortune in Tennen hyakkaku's illustrations.
