Alice prepares for the croquet match. Under her arm, she holds an flamingo, to be used as a mallet, and by her feet is a hedgehog, which will be used as the ball. The image is taken from Alice's Adventures Under Ground, the original manuscript written by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, later published as Alice's Adventures in Wonderland under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. Originally published in Oxford, 1862-1864. Shelfmark: Add. 46700.
